Excited to share my thoughts on thirty-one today!

Oh, how time flies! I’ve said this more times than I can count, but where in the world did 2019 go?! Since my birthday is January 10th I always feel like the new year is a fresh start x2. Time to make resolutions, to reflect, and to look forward to the months ahead. Last year was a big one… 3-0. And honestly, I was more excited than I ever thought I would be to add a three in front of my age.

I know a lot of people are terrified of their thirties, but I fully embraced 30. Even before it began, I knew that it was going to be a year of investment, growth, and change. I didn’t realize the extent of that statement, but I definitely experienced all three to the fullest extent.

If you haven’t read my 2020 Resolutions post, it’ll give some insight into the last year of my life. I’ve had some huge changes take place over the last four months. I said goodbye to a four-year relationship, moved states back home to Kentucky, and purchased my own home. I learned a lot about life and a lot about myself.

Thirty made me feel stronger, more empowered, excited for new opportunities, and also left me feeling quite proud. I’ve always challenged myself to be honest about what I need and want out of life. To always work hard, be kind, and to stay confident in myself.

Looking back at my twenties… PHEW! I’m not sure I would want to relive ALL of the things again haha. But with ten years of perspective behind me, I know it all made me into the person I am today. Several long term (learning) relationships, the completion of my master’s degree, several years of “into the fire” work experience, FOUR state moves, lots of new friendships, some ended friendships, starting my own business, and watching it grow into what is now a full-time job.

SO many statements I never thought I would make. Had you asked if in college if I would ever move out of Kentucky, the answer would have been “no.” Had you asked me if I would move two times, three times, FOUR times, my answer would have undoubtedly been “No.” Had you asked me if I thought, realistically, I would ever have my own business, work for myself, make my own schedule, and love what I do, my answer would absolutely have been “NO!”. But, thankfully, here we are.

I’ve learned you cannot predict the answer. And you cannot predict yourself.

I’ve learned I can’t live in a world of absolutes. Things change, we have to evolve, and sometimes we find ourselves in a better place than we could have ever imagined. It’s usually not without struggle or angst, but life is meant to be happy and it’s so worth having. I’ve learned to believe in my dreams and to believe in myself… and I hope that for all of YOU!

As I’m meeting thirty-one and staring down the rest, I can’t help but feel excited. For all of the things heading my way in the years to come. I’m excited to welcome love, hard work, new challenges, lots of travel, and most of all change. I used to be so averse to change, but now I know I can handle anything that comes my way.

At thirty-one I feel strong, empowered, capable, creative, and loved.

BTW my sequin skirt is from VICI and is currently on major sale! It’s even less with AMANDA20 (less than $33). I’m wearing an xs and it fits true to size.

To all my other January and 01/10 birthdays, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

XO Amanda
