Excited to share my 2021 goals and an updated office tour.

Ya’ll! We made it to 2021. YAYYY!

Every year I like to make resolutions for the months ahead, and to also look back at my resolutions from the year prior. 2020 was definitely not what was expected so I feel like for the most part my resolutions fell a little flat, but that’s not to say other parts of my life didn’t end up flourishing in unexpected ways.

I hesitate to say it out loud, or to write it, but 2020 was honestly a wonderful year for myself and my business. And I feel utterly grateful for that. I feel blessed I was already set up to work from home, in an industry that fared well during the chaos, and that I also live near my family. The obvious is also true.. I met a man. And can you believe it was on Hinge?! I still can’t haha. Our relationship has been such a bright spot in a year of uncertainty and I cannot wait to see where things go in 2021.

He also surprised me with candy and a llama that said “Will you be my Valentine?” last night, so I think he’s a keeper right?!

Keep reading for my 2021 goals and an updated office tour.

Let’s Take A Look Back At 2020..

ONE: BLOG CONSISTENTLY

I had hoped to get back to publishing several blog posts a week last year, but I ended up shifting my focus when it wasn’t safe or feasible to shoot on location regularly or to travel as I had planned. Obviously you can always create posts from home, but Instagram became more strategically important. Most people wanted to see real at-home, comfy content and that platform ended up making more sense. I also spent some time reevaluating what I want the blog to be going forward. Do I want to publish three or more posts a week? Or do I want it to serve more as a resource? And I think the latter is the case. Going forward I want pardonmuah.com to be a place to find helpful links and to answer commonly asked questions. Combined with styled outfit posts as well, of course!

TWO: TRAVEL

Let’s not talk about it.

THREE: SAVE $$

I would consider this a success and at the same time a realm where I can still improve. 2020 was a very, very expensive year for me. If you’ve been following along most of the year, you know I had surgery, my sweet pup Heidi got very sick, I had to buy the Mercedes of back doors to replace a faulty one in my house (sigh), along with other miscellaneous items I still needed, and also put a lot of money towards my home. Now that all of that is taken care of, I’m excited to see where I can go financially in 2021.

2021 Goals!

Below you’ll find my 2021 goals and an updated office tour.

1. SAVE MONEY. This goal goes along with my resolution from last year. And will probably be a constant goal for many years to come. But in 2021 specifically, I want to buy a new car! I had the chance to work with Lexus in 2020, and after driving the RX 350, I’m sold. So it’s great motivation for me to not buy things I don’t need.. like Starbucks every day and an excessive amount of DoorDash (which was a bad habit I started in 2020). I even made a list of all of the things I don’t need that I indulged in last year, and plan to stick to it!

2. START A YOUTUBE CHANNEL. This is something I plan to start this month. It’s been on my radar for quite some time now and I’ve run out of excuses as to why I can’t get things going. And now that my office is finished, I think it will be a lot of fun to film.. and a great way to add new content to my blog posts. I’ll be working on a schedule in the weeks to come.

3. COMMIT TO MY NEWSLETTER. This has been my biggest blogger fail. I don’t know why in the world this always falls off my routine list of things to do, but it always does. I’m sure it’s due in part to the fact I haven’t been on a regular blogging schedule. I even have a template that was designed and branded for Pardon Muah.. so be on the lookout if you’ve subscribed in the past, and if you haven’t you can subscribe on the home page!

4. CREATE A CONSISTENT SCHEDULE. This is something I’ve never fully managed since going full-time three years ago. Blogging is a career that slowly sneaks up on you. It’s a hobby until it’s not, and then you’re in a constant phase of catch up and creation (at least that’s how I’ve felt). This year, however, I finally feel like I’ve got all my ducks in a row which will allow me to create more work life balance. I would love to try and stick to a daily routine that allows me more free time at night or on the weekends. Granted, in this industry you have to remain constantly flexible as a lot of jobs require last minute preparation.

5. UTILIZE TIKTOK. I was definitely not an early adopter of TikTok. I never thought I’d even have one but now I see the purpose it can serve. It’s a different outlet to create new and innovative content and is a way to share your social platforms with an audience of millions of people. I’ll probably take January to figure out what I want my TikTok content to look like.

6. SHARE MORE, BUY LESS. This is one of my favorite goals for the year! As a blogger/influencer you accumulate a lot of extra clothing and product. And you’re also buying more to share. At this point in my journey I feel like I need to share more of what I already have more often. I own lots of items that stay in sale or have similar alternatives (also helping me save $$$). If I do buy, I want to invest in items I really really love, even if the price point is higher. Classic, neutral pieces.

7. CONCENTRATE ON MY NICHE. Been thinking on this one for a while. I’ve noticed that in the influencer world those with more of a specific niche or skillset (i.e. Amazon gurus) grow quicker (which makes a lot of sense). I would love to hone in on my own particular strengths and what my audience really wants from me, and to do more of that more often.

8. MAKE MONTHLY STRATEGIC PLANS. I’ve started to really love analytics! The thing most people don’t see is the constant analytical reporting required by our brand partners, and offered up to us by social platforms and affiliate companies. It’s really important to understand what you are doing well, what is selling, what photos do your audience respond best to, what months are busy or slow, your audience demographic, etc. So along with a monthly content calendar, I’d love to create strategic goals to continue growing (it’s much harder nowadays!).

9. FOCUS ON HEALTH & WELLNESS. Along with saving money, this will probably always be a goal. I got really into at-home workouts in 2020 and also started back to Pure Barre. Which felt awesome! But after my surgery I fell off the wagon. And honestly I don’t even know where the wagon went haha. I’m planning to head back to barre mid-January, ideally three days a week. It really goes help to clear my mind and starts my day off right.

10, FIX MY SLEEP ROUTINE. My sleep schedule is AWFUL. Ever since I moved home in 2019 I haven’t slept well. Originally, I was just overwhelmed by the changes in my life, but now it’s just a bad habit. I wake up without an alarm most days, and stay up til 2 and 3 am most nights. Since it’s just me right now I could keep on keeping on if I really wanted to, but I know I’d be more productive if I got going and started winding down earlier. It’s just a harder thing to fix than you’d think since I never stop working or answering messages. I love to clear out my dms by the end of the day and that can take hours a day to achieve.
