The fall season has become the most popular season to get married, namely September and October, and it’s for good reason. The temperatures are generally not blazing hot or too cool, which is music to a wedding party’s ears. Tuxes and a wedding dress aren’t the most ideal clothing options to wear in the dead of summer. So with that in mind, I wanted to share a favorite fall evening wedding guest dress in case you’re attending a fall wedding this season. I’m also including a few other options from affordable to splurge-worthy.

Fall Evening Wedding Guest Dress

Before you purchase a wedding guest dress, you want to consider where the wedding is located, the dress code (if there is one) and about what temperature you anticipate it to be.

Typically the location of a wedding spells out how formal or casual the wedding will be. If the wedding is at a hotel, it’s more than likely going to be more formal. An outdoor wedding in a garden or vineyard is most likely going to be more casual. You also want to pay close attention to the shoes you wear. If the wedding is outdoors, be sure to avoid skinny heels and opt for a block heel, wedges or flats.

If you live in a climate where it’s still pretty warm in the fall, then you’ll probably want to avoid long sleeves. For chillier weather, you could wear long sleeves or short and have a shaw or light jacket to throw on if you get chilly.

All About My Fall Wedding Guest Dress Look

I chose a long sleeve black dress to showcase for this week’s “What to Wear Where” series. You can never go wrong with a black dress for a fall or winter wedding. This dress features a tulip hem, giving the dress a high-low effect. This hemline works well if you’re a petite height, and won’t have to worry about the dress being too long in the front. It also has an elastic waistband with a detachable tie, and features a button at the bust for added coverage and a secure feel. The sleeves and the back of the dress aren’t lined, but the top front and throughout the skirt are lined. It also comes in red and navy. They’re running low in stock, so I also linked the short sleeve version found here too.

I paired the dress with a black leather sandal. They feature an ankle strap and have a four inch heel. They’re a great staple pump to wear to weddings, work or other special occasions. I finished the look with a Chanel clutch, simple jewelry and a soft pink lip.
