Recently, I cleaned out my makeup collection and when I say cleaned out…I CLEANED out. It was rather painful to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of products but they were old and had to go. I researched how long should keep certain types of cosmetics and there were quite a few things I’d been holding on to that I just couldn’t justify keeping. On the plus side, it felt wonderful to purge my collection of things I wasn’t using. Now I can easily reach for my favorites every morning and feel better about buying new things to fill the holes. Some of the things I was in need of were bright lipsticks, a high-end concealer, a new bronzer, new blush, and lip gloss (I only had two left!). Below you’ll find a review of the items I purchased, my initial impression, and why I recommend buying.

KatVonD Lock-It Concealer Creme (L9) I am sooo glad I purchased this new concealer last week before leaving for my trip to Vegas. I finally emptied out all of my high-end concealers and used lots of drugstore options before realizing I wanted more coverage, especially on blemishes. This concealer is amazing at covering redness, darkness and creates a beautiful highlight if you choose to purchase a lighter shade. I also love that the tube is large enough to last quite a while and a little goes a long way. The color range is quite expansive and great for all skin tones. I’ve never tried a KatVonD product I didn’t love.

MAC Matte Bronze I used to use MAC bronzer religiously and ended up not repurchasing to try other brands and bronzing products. But the other day I was at the MAC counter and rediscovered it when the makeup artist put it on to give my skin some color. It’s perfect for contouring because it doesn’t contain any shimmer and creates a nice shadow for more defined cheekbones. It also comes at a reasonable price for a higher end product. They also make a darker version for darker skin tones, as I’m usually a fair – medium tone.

Hourglass Luminous Bronze Light Oh. Em. Gee. This bronzer may be the best I’ve ever used. It’s incredibly radiant and brings a fantastic amount of color to the skin. It does come at a higher price point but I have to say it’s well worth it and the product should last quite a long time. It has a marbled look as it contains a luminous powder and bronzer mixed together. It does have shimmer so I like to layer it on top of my MAC Matte Bronze on my forehead and cheeks (above my contour).

MAC Mineralize Blush (New Romance) All of MAC’s mineralize blushes are amazingly beautiful but this has to be my fav. It’s a beautiful peach shade that brings just the right amount of color to the cheeks along with some luminosity. Perfect for spring and summer! It’s been my go-to for two weeks now and I’m loving it for everyday where.

MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush (Sunbasque) I’ve been using this product on top of the mineralize blush right on the center of my cheeks. I use just a little and it helps to bring a little extra color that enhances a sun-kissed, radiant glow. I was shocked at what a difference it makes!

MAC 137 Long Blending Brush I’ve fallen in love with MAC’s goat hair brushes all over again. They are so luxurious and soft and apply makeup effortlessly. This blush brush isn’t one I’d ever pick based on the shape, but after having blush applied with it at the makeup counter, I was so impressed I know use this instead of the one I was using for over a year. This one is just so good and works really well with the mineralize blushes.

MAC 135 Large Flat Powder Brush I like to use a bronzer brush for contour and a bronzer brush for all over color. This is the one I’ve been using for all over color and it goes on just as lovely as it feels. I love it with the Hourglass bronzer, as it picks up just the right amount of product.

YSL Mon Paris Eau De Parfum This product isn’t so new but I wanted to share because I’ve been using it nonstop for months. I can confidently say it’s my favorite perfume of all time and I can see myself repurchasing for years to come. Definitely my signature fragrance! It has a sweet yet slightly sultry scent (I love fruity types of smells). The minute I had it on Justin commented on how good I smelled and I knew it was a winner!

MAC Eye Brows Crayon (Lingering) I am notorious for not doing my eyebrows. I throw on a sheer coating of clear gel and that’s about it! Luckily, I have dark eyebrows and can get away with it. But while at the MAC counter one of the sweetest makeup artists actually sat down with me and taught me some new techniques using this eyebrow liner. I was amazed at what a difference it made and now feel compelled to add some color to my brows each morning.

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish (Show Gold) This is an absolutely gorgeous highlight with flecks of pink. It’s brand new to the MAC line and I had to pick one up in case it’s not permanent. It’s made to go right onto the tops of the cheeks for just the right amount of shine and dimension. If you hold the product up to the light the color changes from gold to pink and back again, with the same effect on the skin.

Too Face Better Than Sex Mascara This is my favorite mascara, next to Marc Jacob’s Velvet Noir. Lately, I’ve been loving the combo of both! It gives the lashes such fullness, thickness, and length. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great overall mascara to add to their collection. Trust me, you’ll become addicted!

Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet (No. 1) I purchased this lippie while in Vegas with my girlfriend’s earlier this week and was shocked how much I liked it. It’s a beautiful consistency and I’ve always wanted to buy something from Burberry’s makeup line. This is my perfect kind of nude because it’s light and doesn’t contain any orange undertones. Keep in mind, it’s verrry light so it wouldn’t be good on dark skin tones. One of my girlfriend’s who is Pakistani tried it on and we giggled at what a difference it made on the two of us! But for those of you with light – medium light skin tones, it has a gorgeous light nude matte finish.

MAC Matte Lipstick (Candy Yum Yum) + MAC Prolongwear Lip Pencil (Shock Value) How have I not known about Candy Yum Yum?! Apparently, it’s a MAC staple and on of their signature colors. It’s a vibrant hot pink and I purchased it to wear while on my trip with a pair of black shorts and a white cami. I never wear lip colors other than light pink and nude and ended up absolutely loving the way the bright lip colors brought together an outfit. I always feel out of place, but being in Vegas helped me to feel much more confident since anything goes!

MAC Matte Lipstick (Tropic Tonic) + MAC Lip Pencil (Lasting Sensation) I picked up this lip color with Candy Yum Yum and fell in love with wearing it at the pool. I paired it with a black bikini and bright pink pompom statement earrings. It’s an orangey-red that looks awesome with a spray tan, some bronzer, and a peach cheek. It took me out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad I gave it a try!
NARS Lip Gloss (Turkish Delight) I purchased my first tube of Turkish Delight years ago when it originally became “the thing” via Kim Kardashian. Even though it’s a lighter pink it looks great on light and dark skin tones since it has such a sheer quality. The only downside is that you have to reapply pretty often, but it’s also not sticky or thick. This is a wonderful everyday work lipgloss!

Bite Beauty Creme Lip Gloss (Pink Pearl) Bite Beauty really got it right with their new prismatic lipglosses. So pretty with glimmers of orange and variations of pink. Definitely, one to add to your collection since I’m not sure they are permanent to the Bite Beauty line. I’m excited to pair it with the Bite Beauty lipstick I already own in Souffle.

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi Shine Lip Lacquer (Moonglow) Okay, okay, I know how popular Sugar Sugar has been since Jaclyn Hill made it ultra famous, and yes, I own and love it too. But the other day, while perusing Sephora, I noticed a lighter pinky nude in the line. It ended up being Moonglow and I may love it even more. It’s a little sheerer than Sugar Sugar and is definitely more pink toned. If you love Sugar Sugar, you’ll love this one too and I encourage you to try!

Tom Ford Lip Color (Nude Vanille) I saved the very best for last! This lipstick is by far my favorite formulation of all time and it’s my “perfect” nude. It’s ridiculously expensive for a lipstick but I couldn’t help but repurchase at the Tom Ford store while I was in Vegas. I try to ration it so that it lasts as long as possible. This one is only my second tube, but there will definitely be many more to come.

Have a fabulous Friday friends!
