Another day, another RewardStyle Conference blog post. Today’s the second to last one in my series of five – because I HAD to share all of my outfits with you. Today’s is one of my favorites and was worn to the Margarita Mixer hosted by Express. I wanted something neutral but also fiesta festive so I went with a sequin mini skirt with an Aztec-inspired print, and a black smocked ruffle off the shoulder top. This top was so popular for the party – I saw two of my blogger friends in the white and the peach!

For today’s #rsthecon post I thought we would talk about networking. Whether it’s with new friends or brands, being able to present yourself properly is so important. When I was in graduate school they constantly preached networking, networking, NETWORKING (as we all rolled our eyes), and it wasn’t until I entered the work world and now full-time blogging, that I realize how right they were. A huge part of being an influencer is working with brands, reaching out to other bloggers, hosting giveaways, getting to know your followers & readers, and being your best people person.

As scary and uncomfortable as it can be to approach peers and big brands, it’s something I feel gets easier and more enjoyable with time and practice. You learn what works and what doesn’t, and what people are receptive to and what they’re not. Much like I discussed in Monday’s post, I think it’s best to be yourself. Especially in the influencer world where people embrace unique and want to see and hear what separates you from the pack. And today it’s harder than ever to stand out as the market becomes more and more saturated with influencers. But I encourage you to embrace this, as it’s definitely the way of the future!

One of my biggest pieces of advice when networking with companies/brands is to have a platform, and one you feel passionate about and can speak to easily. For example, Pardon Muah is built on a mission of both inner and outer beauty – instilling confidence, inclusivity, and kindness. So any time I talk with brands about my blog and social sites I speak to what they stand for. For me, it’s always been important to incorporate additional substance. Obviously, fashion and beauty are a huge part of what I do and love (love a lot), but I also want my readers & followers to feel beautiful on the inside when wearing the outfits and beauty products I share.

I encourage you to think about this if you’re already a blogger or thinking about creating one in the future, whether that’s on the desktop (i.e. my kind of blog) or on Instagram (the new age blogger lol). Think about what you want people to feel when they come to your site or your feed. Think about your unique passions, what makes you “you,” what you can speak to that you’ve experienced in life thus far. It doesn’t have to be something super deep or touchy feeling but put some thought into what sets you apart. It’s so much easier to talk about your brand and what you stand for when you do!

Echoing Monday’s post again, at the end of the day keep kindness at the forefront of your pursuits, always smile, be humble, give compliments, be thankful, and work hard. The more you put yourself out there, the more opportunities and new relationships you’ll have. And sometimes the answer is “no” in friendships and in business, and that’s OKAY! You live and learn and if you never ask or try, you’ll never know. One of my main goals this year has been to put myself out there more than I have before, as an influencer, and the results have already been so positive!

Lastly, how cute are these parrot earrings?!

See you Friday for my last RewardStyle Conference post and one of my favorite patterns for Spring.
