Hello, beautiful friends! I’m so excited to share today’s post with you. It’s about one of my favorite beauty products – brushes! There’s nothing better than having the right tools for the job and EcoTools at Ulta totally gets it. Their beautifully soft, handcrafted, 100% vegan brushes help you to create a flawless finish without breaking the bank in the process. I decided to share a fun, trendy spring look with a neutral smokey eye and a bright pop of color on the lips. Continue reading to find out which brushes I used to apply foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blush, etc.
First, I applied my foundation using the Large Base Blender from the Perfecting Blender Duo. The trick is to run the blender under water for several seconds, wringing it out before use so that’s it’s nice and damp. I like to place several dots of foundation on my face and then with the damp blender, press (not drag) the product into my skin. The Blender helps the skin to look dewy and fresh while keeping the product from looking too cakey or thick. Perfect for days you want a lighter application.

After my foundation is well blended, I use the smaller Mini Detail Blender from the Perfecting Blender Duo to apply my concealer. Lately, I’ve been using a product with a doe foot applicator that I use to place the concealer where I want under my eyes, down my nose, in the middle of my forehead between my eyebrows, and then use the blender to press it into the skin. It’s an effortless way to bring brightness to the face and the shape of the Blender helps you get into smaller areas of the face.

Once you’ve applied foundation and concealer it’s crucial to set the product so that it doesn’t slip and slide around your face throughout the day. Using the Full Powder brush I carefully placed a translucent powder onto my skin. This brush has a large, dense head that effortlessly and evenly distributes product for a matte finish. You can tell when you’ve used enough because your skin doesn’t feel sticky to the touch. You’ll probably use even more powder than you need because this brush is so incredibly soft you’ll want to keep using it.
I also used the Mini Detail Blender and a loose translucent powder to set/bake under my eyes for a more highlighted undereye and increased coverage so my mascara didn’t transfer throughout the day.

One of my favorite steps is applying bronzer. It’s a great way to liven up the face and gives a healthy dose of color without damaging the skin. Using the Define brush from the Define & Highlight Duo, I place a luminous bronzer on the temples of my forehead, the tip of my nose, and the hollows of my cheeks to contour. I recommend starting with a light hand and then adding more color as you go so it isn’t too dark. Luckily, the Define brush doesn’t deposit a heavy dose of product onto the skin.

For this pretty spring inspired look, I used a beautiful pink blush on the centers of my cheeks using the Powder/Blush brush, very similar to the Precision Blush Brush. This super soft brush applies color like a dream and is incredibly luxurious. You can also use this brush for powder like the name implies if you’re depositing product on a smaller area.
Heidi recommends it too…
This is my favorite brush of all! The Highlight brush from the Define & Highlight Duo is so luxurious and easy to use. I swept it into my highlighter and then lightly dusted it over top of my eyebrows and onto the tops of my cheeks for a beautiful sheen. I’ve used fan brushes before but this one is extra fluffy and dense enough that you don’t lose any of your product when applying.
Now for a simple smokey eye with the Ultimate Shade Duo! I used the Blend brush to blend a neutral tan shadow into the crease of my eyelid. Next, I used the Shading brush from the Eye Enhancing Duo Set to place a light shimmery cream color onto the lid. And lastly, I used the Smudge brush (found on the other end of the Blend brush) to place a dark chocolate brown onto the outer corner and right under my lower lash line. And lastly, The Blend brush again to ensure there were no harsh lines.
After my eyeshadow is completed I add a black cat eye with a liquid liner and several coats of my favorite mascara on my top and lower lashes. Then, it’s onto brows! Your eyebrows help to define your face and before now all I’ve used is a clear gel to tame them. But recently I started using a Spoolie to brush them and an Angled Liner brush with a pencil eyebrow liner to lightly fill them in. Both are from the Brow Shaping Duo.
The last step is the lips! When creating a bright lip it’s important to exfoliate and moisturize first. I then use a liner in an identical shade to my lipstick to line my upper and lower lip, followed by one or two coats of lipstick. In this case a hot pink! A bright lip is a fantastic way to make a statement and sometimes it’s hard to make that statement perfect on the first try. I usually have a couple places where my lipstick goes beyond the bounds of my liner and I fix it by using a small amount of concealer and a Concealer brush to create precise lines. This brush is from the Ultimate Concealer Duo.
