For me, I love a good excuse to dress up. If your friends or family dress up a bit for Thanksgiving, this outfit I’m sharing today would be a great option to wear. I started off with this gorgeous off-the-shoulder cream sweater that was a part of Caitlin Covington’s collection at Pink Lily. A neutral cream sweater is a great basic to have in your winter and fall wardrobe, and I like that it’s more fitted to tuck into pieces like skirts and skinny denim jeans. The off-the-shoulder element elevates the sweater and gives it a dressier, on-trend vibe. It also comes in black. It runs true to size, and I’m wearing an XS.

I paired the sweater with this darling plaid mini skirt. I tucked the sweater into the skirt for a structured look. The skirt fits true to size, but doesn’t have stretch to it. So if you’re between sizes, I would jump up one. Plaid and houndstooth are great patterns to wear throughout the fall. This skirt would also be fun to wear on a date night or to other fall holiday parties. To dress the skirt down a bit, pair a bodysuit with a denim jacket and booties.

I chose knee-high boots to wear with this look because it gives my legs a bit of extra coverage, if it’s chilly. I also think the boots dress the look up a bit, and the cognac pairs well with the browns in the skirt too. You could also wear with booties or over-the-knee boots, if you prefer those styles over knee-high boots.

Keep the Accessories Simple

I kept the accessories simple and finished the look with one of my favorite pairs of sunnies. You could also wear a felt hat or a statement earring. If it’s cooler out, layer a leather moto jacket over your sweater to complete the look. For a handbag, keep it simple with a crossbody bag in a neutral color like black or brown.
