My Teeth Whitening Sob Story

I all honesty, I never thought I’d be able to whiten my teeth. I’ve tried all sorts of strips, toothpastes, toothpaste additives, mouthwashes, etc. and although good products, all had to be stopped because of my very, very sensitive teeth. Because of this, I knew professional teeth whitening or dentist teeth whitening was out of the picture! I’ve always been so jealous of the girls & guys who can whiten for hours with no problems and who came out looking like they painted their teeth with white out in the end. I gave up on the idea of ever having super white teeth a long time ago. In truth, I’ve always looked at my teeth in a negative light, because they have always been very weak and I’ve had more cavities filled than most large families. I’m not proud of it and I don’t even drink soda!

But, to my delight, several weeks ago, I was approached by a company called Smile Brilliant who makes an at home teeth whitening product designed for everyone, but specifically for those with sensitive teeth. I have to admit, I was quite the skeptic, and figured they didn’t make anything for teeth as finicky as mine. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a go and here’s how it works!

Once you purchase a whitening kit you’ll receive a beautiful box filled with whitening syringes, desensitizing gel syringes, instructions, and most importantly the materials to create a mold of your teeth. It’s a very simple process where you place putty into a mouth insert and take impressions of both your top and bottom teeth. And let me tell you…so painless! If you’ve ever had a mouth guard created and felt like you were going to choke to death on the mixture they put in your mouth, then you’ll absolutely appreciate this product! After the impressions are made you place them into a pre-addressed envelope and away they go!

A short while later you will receive your very own, custom-made, teeth whitening trays! This concept is genius, because you won’t have to worry about your trays slipping & sliding and falling out when you whiten. Plus, the process itself is simple (it takes a time or two to get the hang of it)! 

#1 Brush teeth with water
#2 Place thin strip of whitening gel into trays
#3 Insert trays and wear for 45 minutes – 3 hours
(fyi I only whitened for 30 min to avoid any sensitivity)
#4 Remove and wash trays
#5 Brush your teeth with toothpaste & water
#6 Place thin strip of desensitizing gel into trays
#7 Place into mouth and wear for 15 – 20 minutes
#8 Remove and you’re done!
Just make sure not to eat or drink for 30 minutes. I suggest whitening at bedtime!
